The beauty of the Bay is contrasted with what remains of an abandoned (2011) resort. The walk down will bring you to a junction with a sign “Please no Littering” take the path to the right of the sign (almost straight ahead) in about ~700M this path will take you past a sign “Goat Hut Mao Bay” from here keep going straight and in ~750M you will arrive at the Laem Thian. Follow this to the top of the hill, here you have climbed to the highest point. At the top of the junction road you will get to the flash looking Tarna Align resort, at this point the road is the driveway to the right of the entrance to the resort. It is possible to scooter or get a ride up the junction road past the Smile Mart Supermarket which you should also check out. The high point is 180M the collective altitude gains there and back ~430M. The walk from the junction at Sairee Beach is 3.5km and possibly 60 - 70 minutes each way. Before I get to the instructions, it’s tough in places so wearing sensible shoes and taking plenty of water is highly recommended. You can even hike up to the viewpoint (it takes about 15 to 20 minutes to get. The path, some road, some concrete path and some dirt is well defined but not signposted so what I hope to do in this post is make it easier to navigate. Its perfect for snorkeling as it gets shallow enough for this kind of activity. ![]() ![]() The challenge getting there by foot simply means a good walk (steep in places) up and over the hill. ![]() The bays beautiful clear water, small sandy beach, surrounded boulders and it’s seclusion make it a special place to visit, the day we walked over there were 4 people there, a couple (us) and 2 singles, at one point a dive boat moored for about 40 minutes. Laem Thian Bay and its neighbour Mao Bay are only accessible by foot or boat.
